Palo Alto Becomes Latest California District To Bump Up Again New Laws

Parents in Palo Alto, California, are threatening legal action because of the new sex ed curriculum being offered to middle schoolers. The school district updated their curriculum in order to remain in compliance with California’s Healthy Youth Act. Parents insist, however, that the new curriculum goes above and beyond what the new law requires, and they intend to continue protesting what they see as inappropriate content for their children. Cambrian Park is experiencing similar unrest, as is San Diego. All of this comes close on the heels of a similar curriculum strike-down in Cupertino.

NH Bill That Requires Schools To Alert Parents To Sex Ed Offerings Signed Into Law

The other week, we reported that a bill was being considered that would require schools in New Hampshire to give parents two weeks’ notice before teaching sex ed or human sexuality. Since then, the governor has signed that bill into law, making some worry that this will only create unnecessary hurdles to teaching about sexuality and other topics.

New Study Shows Sexuality Education in Kenya Is Failing Students

A recent study on sexuality education conducted in 78 secondary schools by the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) in conjunction with the Guttmacher Institute shows that many young Kenyans remain misinformed about sex and sexuality.
