Sex Educator of the Week: Meredith Johnson-White, MPH, CHES

What project(s) in Sex Ed are you currently working on?
I currently work for Bronx Teens Connection, an adolescent pregnancy prevention program out of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. We are a community-wide initiative to improve adolescent sexual and reproductive health through 4 components: evidence-based sexual health education programs, access to high quality clinical services, community engagement and mobilization, and stakeholder education.
Meredith Johnson-White, MPH, CHES is an enthusiastic advocate for adolescent sexual health, reproductive justice, and sexual rights. She received her BA in Psychology from Binghamton University, and her MPH in Sexuality and Health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. She has worked on sexual health programs through SIECUS, Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital, and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; served as a volunteer Rape Crisis Counselor; run the volunteer program at the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts; and sat on the Executive Board of SHAG (Sexual & Reproductive Health Action Group) at Columbia University. She also has a strong inclination towards activism, organizing with groups such as Planned Parenthood and SlutWalk NYC. She is currently the Program Coordinator for Bronx Teens Connection, an adolescent pregnancy prevention program in the South Bronx.
