Virginia High Schools Work on Injecting Consent into Sex Ed Curricula

Last year, Fairfax County Public Schools updated its family life education curriculum to include lessons on sexual consent and assault. The changes are set to be implemented next school year. Among the updates being considered is the inclusion of a three-part video about sexual violence. The school board is expected to vote June 30 on whether or not to include the video.

Chinese Sex Ed Textbook Says Girls Are ‘Degraded’ by Premarital Sex

News of the shame-based language being used in a Chinese school textbook is spreading quickly across the internet. In particular, people are up in arms about a passage that says “Girls do not increase the love they receive from boys by sacrificing their bodies, but rather are seen as ‘degraded’ by their ‘conquerors.’ As a result, sexual relations can cause women to lose love.”

India-Based Film Company Launches a Sex Ed Web Series

Y Films, the digital arm of India-based Yashraj Films, is releasing a web series called Sex Chat with Pappu & Papa. This five-part fictional series is intended to deliver information related to sexuality in a fun and welcoming way. According to a press release sent out by Y Films, the series has been “heavily researched and ratified by some of the foremost medical experts, top hormonal, gynecological doctors of the country.”
